Designed to build learners’ cultural and communicative proficiency at the advanced level through interaction with authentic resources, Literati lakay contains 14 chapters grounded in the Action Oriented Approach. The textbook can be used over two semesters of fourteen weeks (a college/university academic year). With Literati Lakay, you’ll learn the Haitian Creole language and culture through a series of literary classical excerpts of various text types (narrative, expository, argumentative, descriptive) and literary genres (poetry, novel excerpts, epistolary form, tales, lodyans) written by the most prominent Haitian authors and story tellers. The materials presented in the textbook were developed for advanced-level Haitian-Creole language courses taught at Florida International University (FIU). At the end of courses taken with this textbook, learners are expected to become proficient users of Haitian Creole, which means they ought to reach the C1 level according to the scale of the A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2 framework of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
